SUMMARY

 
Repairing damaged structures and parts like structural beams. Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. Meausing and cutting metal components to required specificatios. Inspecting completed welds for defects and ensuring structural integrity. 
 
 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • Welding various metals using processes such as SMAWFCAW, and MIG
  • Tack weld clips and brackets in to place prior to permanent welding
  • Fabricate, align, and assemble structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames
  • Ability to comprehend and read blueprints, sketches, manuals, weld symbols, material types, and templates
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of various metals characteristics and qualities including the correct welding processes required and the effects of welding on the material
  • Maintains safe work practices and adheres to safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to wear all required PPE
  • Candidates must be able to provide proof of US person status
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance
 
 
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 
  • Familiar with multiple areas of the ship repair industry including but not limited to: 
    • Ship related structural repairs and/or new construction.
    • Must have experience with FCAW and MIG welding
  • Good understanding of welding technicques and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
 
 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • 5 Years welding experience as a journeyman in the Marine Industry
  • High school Diploma/GED
 
 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
  • Most work performed indoors or outdoors, rain or shine.  
  • May require some travel
  • Minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights
 
 
 
EQUIPMENT USED
 
  • Essential PPE to incluse hard hat, steel toe boots, and safety glasses
  • Miller saws, sanders, grinders, band saws, skill saws, saws-all, welding machines, and applicable compenetsetc
