Candidate must be developing knowledge of the skills and the abilities required to perform the tasks associated to the job of a 3rd Class Sheetmetal Mechanic. Candidate must be familiar with various sheetmetal types and sizes; must be able to measure appropriate sizes of sheet metal; read and understand basic drawings, sketches and written requirements; know various materials to include galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.; operate and use trade power tools. Candidate should be able to fabricate most sheet metal items, vent, flashing, pans, boxes and be able to learn how to fabricate miscellaneous items such as bulkhead panels, boxes, etc. In addition, a 3rd class Sheetmetal Mechanic must be able to demonstrate a developing understanding of sheetmetal and knowledge of NAVSEA drawings & standards.
Candidate must have 1-3 years of experience as a SMM and be able to obtain a government access badge (CIA & DBIDS).
